Creating a new forest in Scotland

Forest is a key issue in sustaining life on Earth.  At this time, forests are being destroyed in Brazil and succumbing to disaster in California and Australia.  In Asia the loss of upland forests often results in serious erosion and soil loss further down. 

Buddhism has a particular affinity with trees.  Buddha was born under a tree, enlightened under a tree, often taught sitting in the shade of a tree, and died lying between two trees. 

Trees are our big brothers and sisters.  Plant and nurture them.

A Vajrayana practitioner who uses this Buddha as the focus of his nundro practice commissioned me to paint this Buddha. This Buddha belongs to the Vajra Buddha family and is located in the east.
