Wrong

I am about to do, or have already done, something wrong,

Which will cause me to be responsible for something terrible.

How can I prevent this from happening, or undo what is already done?

I even feel responsible for others' atrocities I don't even know.

Lamb

There are accidents,

There are mistakes,

And there is deliberately doing wrong.

Why do I feel responsible for others' misdemeanors which damaged me?

Because she puts on a snow-white dress

And bottle-feeds an orphan lamb.

If I do this bad thing for overwhelmingly good reasons, she cunningly tells herself,

I will truly have done something right and nothing wrong.

She puts on a snow-white dress

And bottle-feeds an orphan lamb.

Yes, I think so. Sometimes a gift in terms of, that it is something which enables necessary work to be done, maybe sometimes from previous lives, and it is not even clear to start with what shared pains need dealing with. In the case of some pains, this can mean staying away to allow healing to take place. I'm thinking that I can often work away at a problem and end up causing more friction.

Thanks Andrew.

I - like you, perhaps? - have found writing & poetry to offer a valuable and healing space for what may run me in circles in other domains. A space where whatever 'problem' I feel oppressed by may begin to real itself to be a kind of gift.

Thank you for your response, Mat. The second song is a response to the first one and answers why I feel the way I do in the first- someone powerful has acted like a saint, while denouncing me, to make it seem that only I am responsible, so shared human responsibility becomes more of a psychosis.

The emotion of the first, here, feel to me like a familiar and oft repeated dream, Andrew. And what your first poem ends with, a kind of assertion of faith, for me. As others have put it, 'Nothing human is alien to me', or 'Because I am like this, they are like that'.

Much pain in the second, though for me the images keep their secrets, for now.

Thank you for sharing them.

Colleague Buddhists - I'm getting to know Medicine Buddha as I haven't met him before and he's come into my life at just the right time.

Anything you'd be willing to share about your personal relationship with him / stories/ facts / books etc. I'd be very grateful. Deep bow.
