AMIDA SUMMER RETREAT IN ELEUSIS at Eleusis France

May 28, 2018 to June 1, 2018
All Shu members are this year invited to this big event in the Amida calendar, at the home of Dharmavidya, Head off the Amida Order, here in France. This retreat is an opportunity to enter more deeply into the Pure Land practice and the fundamental teachings of Buddha: to recognise our human nature and to let in the Dharma. Dharmavidya has referred to Pure Land Buddhism as "refuge Buddhism", and explains that all Buddhist practice invites us to deepen our refuge. Though there seem to be many…See More

Posted on December 18, 2017 at 21:45 1 Comment

Communication? Quelle communication?

Posted on February 6, 2017 at 19:00 3 Comments

How are you living together in Oasis ? Have you shared practice and foods etc... ?

My friend and I also did try to begin a co-housing for Buddhists before we did build our house, buth we could not realise it and now we did build on our own in the Pays des Collines, près de Lille et Tournai.

Thousand thanks Annette. I'm so happy you could help me/us. I'm also very pleased to be able to contact you.

Thank you for your suggestions for translation, this looks very good.

I will send you some more questions next days as we will have some gaderings next weekend.

I did translate the whole Morningservice and a woman of the area who speaks French did help me, but as she is not so common with Buddhism, the meaning off the translations seems not always so right.

I'm very gratefull for the help you offer. Namo Amida Bu

Dear Annette,

Thank you for offering help with French on your profile. I really need some help. I live in Belgium en I am dutch speaking, but live in a French speeking part of Belgium. I'm offering here meditation in French and have to translate everything in French; My French is not so fantastic, as well as my english is not so fantastic, but it goos rather well. i have now some people who help me with translations, but some terms are quiet difficult to translate. Could you help me a bit please ?

f.e. foulish being : much used in Purelandbuddhism, how should you translate this in  frensh  ? être fou ? ou être ignorant ? And this one :

"There are beings with little dust in their eyes

Who are wasting through not hearing the Dharma"

We cannot find a good translation.....

Thanks to heop if possible!

Lovely greetings,

Vajrapala

MY REAL LIFE

Posted by David Brazier on December 8, 2018 at 15:20 3 Comments

I'd like to try to say something about real life, which is the only thing that is really interesting.

I have been a bookworm ever since I learnt to read, which was not until I was seven years old. By that time I had already had important spiritual experiences. I was a rather odd child. Many ideas went through my head that tended to set me apart from other children.

Now,…

More Will Be Revealed!!

Adjusting to the extreme contrast between India and England has been a truly enlightening experience for me and I will probably be processing it psychologically for quite a while to come!

It is impossible not to be affected by the seething mass of raw energy that flows endlessly there, seemingly toward no apparent goal except pure survival. It often seemed like hell…

MARY MIDGLEY

Born: September 13, 1919, London, United Kingdom

Died: October 10, 2018

Mary was a dear friend and inspiration. I first met her when she came to a meditation class I was leading. Her husband had recently died and she was grieving. She did not need meditation, she just needed to grieve and that be OK, which it definitely was, but she continued to come to meetings and made a…

Running a Course in Korea and Elsewhere

Posted by David Brazier on August 3, 2018 at 1:40 2 Comments

I am currently leading courses on Buddhist psychology here in Seoul, Korea, but as I am putting the course onto this site as we go along, members of La Ville au Roi (Eleusis) are also responding so it is a bit as though the course is going on in several countries at the same time which is nice.
