Yes, light is not just physics and not just a metaphor. In any kind of spiritual awakening one walks in the light. This is experience.

The interplay between light and darkness is interesting to notice. I think about clients who have depression for example, that seem to have fallen into a certain kind of "darkness" and reconnecting with the light in some way appears to be an essential part of their recovery.
