Following my usual routine, I spent the morning writing and the afternoon outdoors. Today I went to cut blackthorn in the Aphrodite field. This remote part of the land is one of the most lovely spots in the whole of the magical world of Eleusis and it is steadily getting more beautiful as we remove the blackthorn bit by bit and as the spring brings on the greenery. The old oaks look magnificent and the holy hawthorn in the centre looks very fine and now, where once there was a sea of invading small thorn bushes, there is meadow - green grass and cowslips - beautiful. It is also something of a suntrap so it was a great pleasure to spend time there working and communing with the goddess.
In the evening we celebrated another goddess by liughting a fire to Demeter. Demeter is "Mother Earth" and patron of all things cultivated and civilised. So a good balance to the day.
Finally, Modgala and I stood and chanted "Om Amitabha Hum" as the sun set in the West.
