SATURDAY 21 May ~ We have bees

The big news is that we now have some bees in our hive. They arrived care of our neighbour Robert yesterday evening. He had collected a swarm and brought them in a plastic box. We coaxed them into the hive and hopefully they will be happy there. However, this morning, I noticed that they have already started building an annex, creating a structure on the outside of the hive. There is no way of telling what is happening inside. We shall leave them for a few days to settle in.

Today has been a big outdoor work day. I did some liming of walls, oiled and put away some of the scaffolding, and, in order to do that, had to do some reorganisation of part of the barn. As a result we turned out a lot of stuff, some worth keeping that had to be moved to the workshop and some not that had to be taken to the tip. Jnanamati also moved a large heap of sand, did some weeding, and helped me in the barn. Adam and our visitor worked laying slabs and also took junk to the tip which was quite a strenuous job. By tea time we are all glowing.

Adam took some picture which I include below.
