The media are referring to this as a "mistake" - the Prime Minister having labelled it as such. However, it is hard to believe that this was really a mistake. It is a decision that has now been reversed because it causes embarrassment to the government, but it only does so because a prominent academic was a victim and protested. Lesser statused people would have been ignored. This was surely not a mistake, rather a sign of what is to come. Britain has shown itself to be xenophobic and intolerant and following in the footsteps of the USA. We should worry about the future.
