There is currently a great fashion for mindfulness, which is helping many people to cope with or reduce stress. All to the good. However, what we now call mindfulness is derived from a more comprehensive and deeper teaching originally given by Shakyamuni Buddha which was not just about immediate awareness but about the transformation of the whole of life. In this seminar we shall look at and hear about some of these original teachings and practices. Buddhists celebrate the Dharma with chanting, contemplation and ceremonial as well as through arts, architecture and lifestyle, so we shall look at the ways that heartfulness can be expressed traditionally and in the modern world and how it can be a force for peace personally and collectively, in our lives and in the world.
