In this retreat we will use art making to explore and communicate our relationship to spirituality. It will also be the vehicle by which we encounter each other in a shared symbolic space. Whilst art making is a physical activity performed by our bodies, the concrete, material images and objects we make also have a psychological lining. An image is a bridge metaphorically and literally between self and other, and it is in this transitional space that - personally and interpersonally - new possibilities and insights can emerge.

The retreat will invite participants to engage in art making, meditative practice and reflection, and an art based encounter style group. The facilitators will present relevant themes and give guidance. A vegan lunch will be provided.

You do not have to consider yourself “good at art” to join this retreat. The emphasis will be on expression rather than completing pieces of artwork. There is some expectation however that you will be willing to talk about your process and engage in personal sharing during the group process. If you have concerns about this aspect of the retreat do feel free to contact us in advance.

Cost: £40 per person (if you are on a low income please do talk to us about a concessionary rate). The fee covers the cost of hosting the event at Amida Mandala including lunch and refreshments. The remainder of the fee will be shared between the facilitators.
