An open six day event providing the opportunity to explore the relationship between contemplative practice and artistic expression. There will be periods of 'zazen' - sitting meditation practice - and kinhin - walking meditation - each day. This will form the background to art making, individual and group creativity. Art making will not be guided or directed, rather participants will be free to explore the spaces provided by the landscape around the centre and their own creative pathways. A daily gathering will be available to discuss emerging themes in peoples work; Taking a lead from some of the ideas presented in Shoma Morita's work, the first day of the retreat will be designed so as to promote silence and contemplation instead of activity. People will be asked not to engage in discussion and refrain from using the internet, reading, writing, art making or any other practical activity.
