MONDAY 21 November ~ Sudden Storm

Today we have had extraordinary weather. This morning was like a summer's day. Balmy. Then thunder. Then heavy clouds rolled in and brought a torrent of rain. Sitting in the refectory at such times is a remarkable experience - inside and outside at the same time, in the midst of the weather while still protected by the great stone walls - a bit like being in a tent though on a much grander scale.

In general, recently, it has been cool, wet and windy - rather typicial November. As a result one stays indoor. Apart from shopping, I am occupied with more work in the barn following on from rising the stairway. I get a great delight from the building and from this work which seems to be a kind of psychological therapy or spiritual practice as much as a physical one.

  • The day of remarkable weather continued into a glorious sunset that turned all the trees golden - especially the Demeter tree, but all the tall trees bacame like flames of red gold into the sky and above a double rainbow formed with two complete arches - truly spectacular.
