TUESDAY 12 July ~ A Busy House

Today has been a bit cooler, though we had some hot sunshine in the afternoon. We have all been working hard. Elja is in a cleaning mood and has been blitzing the kitchen and also washing sheets and duvet covers. Adam has been laying more concrete slabs and I have been moving timber into the barn. It is very satisfying seeing some results from work that has been going on all this year.

We also went to the supermarket and took Tara along for the car ride. Around the house she is now totally at home and knows her way about between the different buildings. Going off site is more of an adventure. When she gets home she sleeps.

Have been following the political events still. There was apparently an item in one of the Russian daily papers today by a correspondent who said that although he thoroughly enjoyed British fiction thrillers, nothing quite matches the sight of British politics over the past three weeks, and the current maelstrom has not stopped yet.

This evening it looked as if we were going to get a storm. the wind picked up and a little rain fell, but storms in this part of France are very localised and I think this one just missed us. Quite often the storms are drawn to the forest just to the south.
