TUESDAY 30 Aug ~ Autumn is Coming

The month is nearly over. Time flies. Walking in the woods today I was conscious of the first fallen leaves. Autumn is coming. Everywhere blackberries are ripening. Today we harvested our first pumpkin, a big yellow one. The tomatoes are ripening too. I expect we shall have pasta and tomatoes for dinner one of these days.

Yesterday the nurse came to take a blood sample. Today I got the result. The 2.9 reading is inside my target range so I have managed to keep my blood reading on target for several months now. Hopefully this is doing some good.

Today I went and did some more work in the Aphrodite Field. The work of clearing blackthorn is now virtually complete for the present. The field looks very nice. The grass is mostly yellow at the moment as the field is very sheltered and catches a lot of sun but as soon as we get rain it will turn back green again.

The work left me exhausted - more so than I was expecting - so I had a shower and a siesta afterwards. The past several day I have been immersed in editing my book manuscript and this has meant a rather sedentary time. Today I felt that I had to get out and get some exercise but I saw how evan in a few days one can lose some tone.

Tara has had a very lazy day. Generally she dashes about skittishly practising hunting and trying to catch anything that moves from insects to strands of grass. She is growing rapidly but stays very thin, presumably because of the amount of exercise. However, today she spent more time in her favourite armchair.
