"Beautiful expression of longing and refuge.

Inspired me to do an Afrikaans translation:

Soos 'n boom uitreik na die heelal
so soek my hart die Huis.

Nou is die nie meer lank nie.
Ongeduldige verlange dra my tuis.

Nie meer lank nie ... dan is ek…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion THE WRONG EVIDENCE in ITZI
"I agree 'outside perspectives can help but also distract the empathic attention needed in each case.'  The psychological model you described at ITZI in September comes to mind:  Objective situation > Triggered action > Experiment > Learning >…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion THE WRONG EVIDENCE in ITZI
"I agree Dharmavidya.  Our reliance on hard evidence is not always helpful and can distract from what is relevant and meaningful to a specific individual.  Failed scientific evidence is rarely published, brings bias and closes minds prematurely.  Our…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion THE THERAPEUTIC ELEMENT in ITZI
"Interesting discussion.
Different methods and approaches each have a place and contribution to make.  The skills of a doctor might be (depending on circumstances) very different from those of a psychotherapist or psychologist.  Or maybe not?
One…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion INSIDE VIEW, OUTSIDE VIEW in ITZI
"I got to know the outside view through the study of Medicine.  This approach attracts and finds confidence in evidence, endless measuring, careful labelling, quantifying and explaining the process.  It can be useful but did not show me the brutal,…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT ZEN THERAPY in ITZI
"Thank you Dharmavidya for a very clear description of the unique way of Zen Therapy.  I have personally benefited from the approach and seen it being useful to others.  Zen therapy takes all I know about medicine and human beings, turns it on the…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG WITH PSYCHOTHERAPY in ITZI
"Thank you Dharmavidya.
What you are describing is happening in medicine and at a much quicker pace than psychotherapy and it is downright scary. 'Evidence' will never be able to capture that which moves the heart in mysterious ways and gives…"

  • Hi Juline,

Thank you for your warm welcome message!

I know Namibia quite well.  I have often travelled there.  We used to spend quite a lot of holidays in Swakopmund and have often driven up as far as Etosha and into Botswana, but not for a few years now.  I was talking to someone about it only a couple of days ago, coincidentally, and I think we might try it now that our son is a little bit older - he is 14 now - old enough to enjoy it, perhaps?  On the other hand, he might be bored stiff. :)

  • Thank you for your comment on the ITZI page on Facebook - I think we are on the same wavelength. Glad you are linked here to Eleusis too.

  • Thank you David for invitation and warm welcome.  Yes, would be good to see each other ... all in good time. I enjoyed your recent teachings on Tricycle.  Hope you are well.

  • Welcome Juline - very good to have you involved here. Do join some of the groups and join in discussions. This is a super group of people with lots of good ideas. Hope to see you again before tooooo long.
