"Beautiful expression of longing and refuge.

Inspired me to do an Afrikaans translation:

Soos 'n boom uitreik na die heelal
so soek my hart die Huis.

Nou is die nie meer lank nie.
Ongeduldige verlange dra my tuis.

Nie meer lank nie ... dan is ek…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion MANTRAS in QUESTIONS IN THE SAND
"Thank you Dharmavidya.
In my experience (Pureland, yoga and kirtan) mantras get me out of my head and into my heart, a calmer, more objective place from where to proceed.
Here is a link to an article on the issue which might be of interest to…"

I hope you are well and recovering from the recent leg injury.
Interesting story.  I find it hard to see myself in the role of the Buddhist hermit even though part of me admire him for the way he acted.  He seems to accept…"

Juline Smit replied to Dharmavidya's discussion METTA in QUESTIONS IN THE SAND
"Thank you Dharmavidya.  We humans can easily become obsessed with doing and achieving (ask me I am an expert!).  I can see the Buddhas smile at our foolishness.  I agree with your observation,  love is already here.  Nothing needs to be added, by…"

  • Hi Juline,

Thank you for your warm welcome message!

I know Namibia quite well.  I have often travelled there.  We used to spend quite a lot of holidays in Swakopmund and have often driven up as far as Etosha and into Botswana, but not for a few years now.  I was talking to someone about it only a couple of days ago, coincidentally, and I think we might try it now that our son is a little bit older - he is 14 now - old enough to enjoy it, perhaps?  On the other hand, he might be bored stiff. :)

  • Thank you for your comment on the ITZI page on Facebook - I think we are on the same wavelength. Glad you are linked here to Eleusis too.

  • Thank you David for invitation and warm welcome.  Yes, would be good to see each other ... all in good time. I enjoyed your recent teachings on Tricycle.  Hope you are well.

  • Welcome Juline - very good to have you involved here. Do join some of the groups and join in discussions. This is a super group of people with lots of good ideas. Hope to see you again before tooooo long.
