Life in our little hermitage continues. Our guest left this morning. He later e-mailed to say that he had thoroughly enjoyed his stay. Something about the atmosphere, the welcome, the surroundings. Here we are ever on retreat. In the stressful world people live within the constraints of a busy world. Here we have space and silence, broken by bird song.
I finally finished weeding the rose bed just in time before the rain came. We had a little rain yesterday, but today it arrived on a more serious scale. I retired to my room with a book and sat in the window watching the wet walnut tree. The grey clouds bring a more sombre mood.
I have proposed a Winter Retreat from October to December. This seems like the best way to employ my time: offering the Dharma. Having a small retreat community here would be rather wonderful.

We have rain here in London the last two days. Wonderful because in the days before I planted my beans, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes and peppers in my little adopted bed near my room. I hope to come across towards the end of September for a week or two. Lovely to think that you will be holding a winter retreat. Namo amida Bu
