SUNDAY 13 Nov ~ How do I get that up there?

A day's work in pictures

Very nice stairway. I don't know how much it weighs, but I can't lift it. It needs to go in the wellhole that you can just see at the top of the picture.

I decided to sleep on it.

The next day I put up some scaffolding and selected some long timbers to use as levers. Inch by inch, chocking and clamping at each pause, it rose...

Sometimes I needed some heavy weigh on the other end of the lever, which, because of the length needed, was sometimes in the next room...

By the nd of the day it was nearly there. I secured it suspended in its most vulnerable position as best could and wondered if it would still be in place in the morning. We had a very windy night that day. However, all was well and another morning's work got it in place...

Just in time for the inspector to make a tour...

As they say, where there's a will there's usually a way.
