Every Monday a nurse comes to Eleusis to take some of David's blood. (“To feed the vampire” says David). A day later the test result arrives by post. The blood test is about how thick his blood is. The result is expressed in numbers. The result is supposed to be between 2.0 and 3.0 When David left the hospital his blood test said: 2.1 Immediately after his return from the hospital we adapted David's diet to see if we can affect his blood in a natural way with food and herbs. Rat poison can't be good for anyone to use for a long time. I have learnt more about food and its effect on blood and I have the hope that nature can beat the chemical drug.

Panic

After the first blood test the result was 4.7! At first, I panicked a bit. So high! We had overdone it. I was afraid that this could be dangerous, but quite soon I found an academic article on the internet about managing Walfarin and blood results. The real danger starts from 8.0. Till 5 there is not much danger. So then I felt quite confident with the first result. David decided to take half a pill less each day and we decided to go on with the diet.

Kiwi and Cinnamon

David is on a diet of kiwi's (2 or 3 a day) and he is eating extra fruit. So during the day he is eating 5 pieces of fruit. We are avoiding the vegetables that have high vitamin K content like cauliflower, green cabbage and other dark green vegetables. Other natural blood thinners we use are cinnamon, cayenne pepper and turmeric. Cinnamon is the easiest one, so David is eating alot of it on coffee, on toast, especially with honey, and in cooked food.

Last Tuesday we received the new result: 3.9. Still high. This time I was immediately happy with it. The dose of Warfarin could go down again!

Besides healthy food, exercise is also important to stimulate the blood circulation and oxygenate the blood. Slowly, David can do more and make longer walks into the woods. Today was a lovely sunny day. We made quite a long walk into the woods and I made a lot of pictures.

It is amazing how many flowers I see appear in the woods. A lot are not flowering yet and I don't know every plant by name, so I am rather curious which kind of flowers are there to discover. Soon there will be hundreds of bluebells. At the moment I see purple violets and the yellow flowers of celandine and several hellebores.

Soon there will be lots of primulas and all the blackthorn will be flowering. We have lots and lots of blackthorn. It must be an amazing picture to see all the blackthorn with a snow white veil of blossom.

Today we also passed the canal. It was the first time for me to see it filled with water. The sun was bright and and gave a beautiful reflection of the trees in the water.

We walked again through the Enchanted Wood. You want to know why this part of the woods have this name? You can read it here. But when you walk through this part of the woods you can see it yourself. The shape of the trees and the whole energy is quite fairylike over here. It is not hard to imagine some elves and fairies in the trees.
