TUESDAY 31 May ~ Rain Rain

Weather

We are having exceptionally wet weather all of a sudden. It has rained virtually continuously for about 48 hours and the ground is saturated. All holes have filled up and turned into little ponds, the yard is like a paddy field, and we even have a small pond inside our meditation hall so have had to take up some of the carpets, and it is not showing much sign of letting up. Perhaps the gods are crying because the French are all at odd with one another. The country seems to be sliding into more and more chaos with the railways now going on strike as well.

In this wet weather one is confined indoors, but at least my current work project is under cover in the big barn. This kind of work proceeds very slowly but one does see some results - see yesterday's picture.

Today there have been two quite separate incidents of old friends from long ago turning up in my e-mail inbox out of the blue. It is certainly nice to reconnect with people one had lost contact with.

Health

I got my blood test results back today - 2.6 - perfect! So at least I know that I am succeeding in managing the treatment regime with some accuracy. The frustrating thing is that one still does not know what, if anything, is happening with the basic illness condition. There has been some change in my 'bad' leg. It is less red which is probably a good sign. However, my foot has swollen up somewhat which might be good or might not. The doctor told me last time this happened not to worry about it unless it gets considerably worse. Ah well. Wait and see.

At Oasis, it rains too. In fact, it is not possible to drive up to our place by car. The road is flooded. So we cannot leave the place. The beautuful carpet in our shrine is soaked with water and has probably to be removed... The weatherforecast is not very ggod for the next few days... So, yes there too we have to say "wait and see".
